The silent auction of Avant Garde outfits that were exhibited and subsequently sold on March 12th at the Institut Francais in Phnom Penh has drawn significantly more attention than expected, while all dresses were sold – bringing in more than ten thousand Dollars, or double the expected amount for a good cause.

The Avant Garde creations were designed by the Dollhouse Phnom Penh team in collaboration with Matthew Cuenca (Glamazon Hair Show 2012 – A Feast of Extravagance, Pontoon). Some of the gorgeous outfits are:

Janne Ritskes, founder of Cambodia’s renown Tabitha organization and a co-founder of the soon-to-be-launched Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital in Phnom Penh, held a passionate introductory speech, telling how she experienced stories of women she met and whose need for help has prompted her to participate in the Nokor Tep project. Vulnerable and poor Cambodian women often live with illnesses that many of them are not able to treat, as they are not recognized. Others know from what they suffer but cannot afford to cure it.

“Our vision is about bringing peace. When a woman is ill there can be no peace in the family as long as her suffering continues, or even increases,” she said. “Together we can make peace happen. Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital will allow Cambodian women to access treatments and cures for their suffering.”

Profits from this successful auction will be used to support the first phase construction of Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital. To be built on latest technical and medical standards, this modern facility will provide exceptional health care for women of any age and social status throughout Cambodia.
